World Ranger Day - UmPhafa

World Ranger Day is celebrated Worldwide on July 31st to commemorate Rangers killed in action or injured in the line of duty, and to celebrate the work Rangers do to protect the planet’s national treasures and cultural heritage.

On UmPhafa, our Field Rangers have dedicated their lives to protect and preserve our Reserve by constantly monitoring our fence lines and animals. Typical patrolling up to 15-20kms a day or night come rain or shine they work tirelessly in their efforts to reduce the impact of poaching on our Reserve.

As part of our Intern Program, they also take time to teach the Interns about snares, patrolling, fixing fences and also how to track poachers – an activity the Interns love but for the Field Rangers it’s a daily occurrence.

UmPhafa would like to say a huge thank you to the Field Rangers for their dedication and perseverance!
